Alpha Grade
Inventory
Scorecard

Six things. Graded every day. No opinions.

Every used car operation already knows whether it had a good month. Almost none can say which six habits produced it. Alpha Grade scores the store on appraisal quality, photo quality, retail aging, wholesale aging, pricing to market and recon speed — five appraisals graded every single day, Monday through Friday, by name.

The Criteria

The Six Things
We Grade

Not a survey and not a vibe. Six measurable habits, pulled from the systems your store already runs, scored the same way every week so the trend means something.

01

Appraisal Excellence

Five appraisals graded every single day, Monday through Friday — including who did it and how they did it. A complete appraisal carries pictures, the customer's contact information, notes in the system, and a finalized ACV. Miss one and the appraisal does not count as done.

5 per day · Mon–Fri

02

Picture Excellence

What percentage of the cars on your retail website show the actual vehicle — not a stock shot, not a "photos coming soon" placeholder, not an empty frame. Shoppers skip cars they cannot see, and a placeholder is a car you are not really merchandising.

Real photos, every unit

03

Retail Inventory Aging

How many retail units have been on the ground past your age policy. Sixty days is the common line, but the grade is not really about the number — it is about whether your store lets cars age at all.

60 days · configurable

04

Wholesale Inventory Aging

Wholesale runs on a different clock than retail. A car sitting in wholesale inventory past thirty days has stopped being a wholesale decision and started being a loss you have not taken yet.

30 days · configurable

05

Pricing to Market

Two questions. Is every car priced at all — and is it priced at or below 100% of market average? One hundred percent is the ceiling, not the target. Price above market and you are paying to advertise the dealer down the street.

100% of market or below

06

Recon Time

From the moment you take the car to the moment it is front line — pictured, priced and ready to sell. The standard is 72 hours. Plenty of stores run seven days and call it normal; those are days of turn you already paid for.

72 hours · configurable

The Standards

Graded Against
Your Policy, Not Ours

Every store is different. A high-volume import store and a rural truck store should not be held to the same aging window. These are the defaults — set yours, and the scorecard grades against those instead.

The Scorecard Grades
What The Others Build

Criterion one is the same four checks Trade In Tracker already watches on every appraisal — photos, customer contact, notes and a finalized ACV — and the same standard Appraisal Academy trains the floor to hit. Alpha Grade is where that work shows up as a number. Run it on its own if you like. Run it alongside the other four and the grade stops being a report and starts being a scoreboard.

Most dealers guess high on all six. The first scorecard is usually the most useful conversation a used car department has all quarter.
